Workshops {3-4 hours}

Basic Batwing (4hr)

Click here for a larger pictureUsing templates learn the technique of piecing in and out corners in this interlocking five sided shape to create a wall hanging or quilt of your choice. The design is available in various sizes to suit cot quilts to larger designs so you can have fun later with different fabrics – try it in recycled denim, cords, recycled wool etc. All skill levels – machine work. This can be extended to a 1 day workshop allowing more hands on experience in class with corner and edge pieces, or with alternate finishing steps.

 

Folded Patchwork (3hr)

Learn how to create quilt designs by using folded fabrics. Suitable for drink coasters or card making, Xmas decorations etc, or make several and create a textured small quilt.


Hand Quilting (4hr)

Click here for a larger pictureA lesson designed to teach the basics in hand quilting from how to transfer designs to fabric, making the sandwich to the quilt stitch. A cushion size block with a simple design, or bring your own appliqué cushion block to start quilting – suits beginners.

 

Cathedral Windows (3hr)

Learn several ways to make this traditional design using both hand and machine. Start small and make a bag for zip pockets or a drawstring bag such as a mug bag, or make a small quilt. – item not completed in class time.

3-4hr workshops
These workshops are designed around specific techniques rather that making a full project. These are most suited to skillbuilder days, or combine 2 to make a full day of classes for groups etc - click here to find out more..
