Workshops {series}

Suggested time frames for these workshops

  1. 3 full days works well with at least 2-3 weeks between;

  2. 7 sessions of 5 hours, spacing of 2-4 weeks giving time to complete sections before progressing to next one. This method allows for more tutor assistance through all stages to completion;

  3. 2 very full days with at least a month between. This system means students work on a major part of the quilt in their own time. Class time concentrates on technique methods not completing all sections in class.

  4. 8 lessons of 3 hours each taught once a week or fortnight. Due to the time frame of this series, it is available only to my local area.

Stop the Scrap Box Growing
(Machine work)
[time frames (a) or (c) work best]
This workshop is designed around the ever growing scrap box. Make your choice of several small quilts or one larger one incorporating different scrap techniques. Learn how to use up fabrics from other projects and make colourful practical quilts where each quilt produced will be different. Rotary cutting, foundation work and templates are some of the techniques that will be covered as you make bat wing, flying geese, chevron, crazy patch and other style pieces to make up your quilt(s). Project size can be to suit individual requirements, however the workshop sample is a lap quilt size quilt & covers top only. This is a popular group workshop as it covers many techniques, and depending on the group which time frame works best & suitable for all skill levels. Quilt top only covered in class.

37 students work from this workshop featured in the Queensland Quiters Quilt show in Oct 2003 - click on the thumbnails for larger photos.

(Hand & Machine)
[time frames (a) or (c) works best]

Rotary cutting and speed piecing also included. Quilt top only covered, however in the longer session time frame quilting techniques will be discussed also.

Basic Patchwork & Quilting
(Traditional)

This series is designed to take students new to patchwork through the steps of making a traditional quilt. The course covers hand techniques, template making, setting blocks, through to hand quilting and finishing the quilt. Students are encouraged to work on a project that is achievable for them with lots of variety offered for block designs to allow the quilts to be individual.

This course is designed for students to make quilts totally by machine and covers rotary cutting and many piecing & applique techniques, machine quilting through to finishing the quilt. The structure of this class allows students to make blocks of different sizes, settings of different types, and a project size to suit their needs from wallhanging to single bed quilts.
